Objective approaches to personality assessment by Bernard M Bass( Book )

1 edition published in 1959 in English and held by 555 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The present book comprises a collection of hitherto unpublished papers which were read in Baton Rouge at a Louisiana State University Psychology Symposium, February 1958, the aim of which was to present the most recent concepts and developments in objective personality assessment. Accordingly, nationally known experts from virtually every section of the country were invited to read papers concerned with their current thinking about problems of objective personality measurement, together with a description of some of their present research and its background. The final result is considered to be an accurate representation of what leaders in the field of objective personality testing are now doing. This volume tells what many of the personality tests of tomorrow will look like and what the rationale behind them will be. There was, of course, no general agreement about personality measurement among the authors. About the only point of real agreement was that personality testing should be objective"--Preface. Effects of turbidity and suspended material in aquatic environments : literature review by Edward M Stern( Book )

1 edition published in 1978 in English and held by 37 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This literature review of the effects of turbidity and suspended material in aquatic environments covers the following subjects: definitions, units of measure, and methods of measurement; origins; and effects in aquatic environments. Turbidity, regardless of the multiplicity of definitions, units of measure, and methods of measurement, is an expression of the optical properties of water that cause light to be scattered and absorbed rather than transmitted in a straight line. Turbidity is not the same as siltation, although the terms have been used synonymously in the past. The various units of measure include the Jackson Turbidity UNIT (JTU), Formazin Turbidity Unit (FTU), and Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU). The methods of measuring percent transmission or the weight per volume concentration of suspended particulates are based on either gravimetric or optical techniques

2 editions published in 1973 in English and held by 15 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Physician and professor of "Negro Medicine" at the University of New Orleans. Early letters, 1826-1843, concern Cartwright's medical career. Papers, 1844-1860, include letters from John A. Quitman, Jefferson Davis, John Slidell and others discussing contemporary politics, attitudes toward slavery, and the need for an emphasis on regional values in Southern education. Cartwright's manuscript writings consist of a treatise on "camp dysentery" and a prescription for its cure, and published pamphlets discuss his racial theories. Other papers consist of correspondence, 1850-1864, between Cartwright's wife, his daughter Mary, and her husband, William Alexander Gordon, concerning family matters and Confederate civilian experiences. Cartwright's two volume diary, entitled "Travels in Europe," 1837, gives impressions of Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and France
