Jeden z předních amerických pracovníků v oboru fyzikální chemie polymerů se zabývá mechanickými vlastnostmi polymerů na základě struktury molekul, matematickou analýzou lineární viskoelasticity, viskoelastickým chováním polymerů, chemickou relaxací napětí a kinetikou rovnovážných polymerací a kopolymerací. Navazuje na práci V.A. Kargina a G.L. Slonimského: Úvod do fyzikální chemie polymerů

Molecular conformation in oriented fibers( Book )

3 editions published in 1961 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A molecular model for completely unoriented polymer chains which can be formed on a square lattice is presented. Using the mathematical methods of the Markoff formalism, expressions for the dimensions of the molecular chain, values for the per cent crystallinity and sequence length in amorphous and crystalline regions are derived in terms of two probability parameters. The problem of excluded volume is not considered. (Author)
VISCOSITY AS A FUNCTION OF SHEAR RATE( Book )

2 editions published in 1968 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A paper is presented in which polymer viscosity is derived as a function of rate of shear. The basic idea introduced is that the polymer attains a limiting strain in the melt viscosity instrument. This limiting strain is perhaps a breaking strain. (Author)

Studies of the toughness of polycarbonate of bisphenol a in light of its secondary transition by G Locati( Book )

2 editions published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Results from different techniques on amorphous polybisphenol-A carbonate(NMR, dielectric, mechanical) in the temperature range -150 C to room temperature were reviewed. Shear creep and stress relaxation measurements were able to resolve into two components of the broad relaxation process (gamma transition), the high symmetry of which was previously apparent from the results of torsion pendulum experiments. One of the two processes is attributed to relaxation of carbonate groups; the other seems to originate from some restricted motions of the phenol group. An attempt to correlate the high impact strength of polybisphenol-A carbonate and the observed molecular movements was made. (Author-PL)

Effect of sulfur rank on the chemorheology of crosslinked polysulfide elastomers by William J MacKnight( Book )

2 editions published in 1964 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The chemical stress relaxation of a series of 10 mole per cent crosslinked poly(ethylene polysulfides) of varying sulfur ranks was investigated. In addition, the effect of carbon black on the chemical relaxation time of lightly crosslinked disulfide polymers is discussed. It is concluded that stress decay in the elastomers studied can be well represented by a simple exponential decay law although a sum of two exponentials 'fits' the data somewhat better. It is also concluded that the major portion of stress decay in crosslinked polysulfides occurs by the reversible scission and bond interchange of polysulfide linkages of rank greater than two.
