"Profusely illustrated monograph on Morales may reaffirm the idea that he was more a draftsman than a painter or sculptor, although he realized many works in both techniques. Two themes dominate Morales' work: the female nude and the relationship between model and artist. His studied eroticism is aseptic, however, and comes across more as an artificial formalism, leaving doubts about which idea was more important for Morales. Includes a chronology and bibliography"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58

David Manzur : ciudades oxidadas by David Manzur ( Book )
1 edition published in 2011 in Spanish and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
50 large-scale works in the exhibition in which artist David Manzur (b. Colombia 1929) reflects on the mix of fantasy and deterioration that have been characteristic of his works. Horses, riders and musicians permanent traits join a dingy space that reveals the worn condition of the city, which together with its quixotic characters represent the relationship of the sites with the memories. These works created between 2004 and 2011 depict horses, animals of of great grace and strength who fight along their riders against bulls or strange wheels that appear to have a life of its own. "These representations of horses by Manzur are really magnificent, not because they clearly follow the values traditionally associated with classical painting, such as anatomical fidelity, attention to detail, detailed definition and compositional clarity, but for the drama that gives them their tense muscles and dilated veins."
