A public relations film made by Harvard, apparently with the intention to raise money. Most of the film is devoted to extolling Harvard's virtues and highlighting its illustrious connections. Footage of speeches by President Eliot [10:37], President Lowell [11:58 & 16:34] and President Conant [16:00], as well as Winston Churchill [6:55]. At 5:00, historical footage: the confetti battle of 1929, the Tercentenary, Commencement 1929 and 1957. McGeorge Bundy, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences recounts Harvard history, including Presidents Eliot and Lowell's educational reforms, Harvard's role in World War II, the formation of the house system, Widener resources, and sports. [crew at 18:00, football at 19:00]. The film then addresses the problems of undergraduate overcrowding and the difficulties of faculty housing (features Earnest May commuting) and office space. Finally, Pusey shows some of the college's 'priceless treasures' including the Charter of the college and the president's chair [36:15]
