Lucy mack (1775-1856) was born in Gilsum, New Hampshire to Solomon Mack and Lydia Gates. In 1796 she married Joseph Smith, Sr. (1771-1840) and they became the parents of eleven children. One of their children was Joseph Smith, Jr. (1805-1844) who was the first prophet and founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

100 p. handwritten journal (plus 33 p. typescript) kept by Bullock during May and June 1858 which gives an account of his return to Utah following a mission for the Latter-day Saint Church. The collection also includes a poem written by Eliza R. Snow which was dedicated to Bullock on his departure on a Church mission to Europe in 1856 and letters received during his mission which tell of the church reformation of 1856 and the moving of the Utah capital from Fillmore to Salt Lake City. Correspondents included Leo Hawkins and Robert L. Campbell. Also included are blessings given to Bullock and members of his family by William J. Smith, John Smith, Isaac Morley, George A. Smith and Wilford Woodruff

The materials relate largely to Dame's life in Parowan, Utah, the Utah Expedition (1857-1858), and to Mormon Church activities and policies.
