A passionate love story set against the ugly political backdrop of repression, torture, and murder, "The Noli," as it is called in the Philippines, was the first major artistic manifestation of Asian resistance to European colonialism, and Rizal became a guiding conscience--and martyr--for the revolution that would subsequently rise up in the Spanish province."--Publisher's website21ocn804371882book18930.22Luna, JuanProceso seguido contra el parricida Juan Luna San Pedro y Novicio ... : accusado de asesinato con premeditac[i]on en la persona de su madre politica, asesinato con premeditacion en la persona de su esposa y tentativa de asesinato frustrado contra su cuñado22ocn714879926rcrd1999Mateu Frontera, Juan MiguelDentro del volcán22ocn794789989book1957Da Silva, Carlos EJuan Luna y Novicio. 1st internationally known Filipino painter. The photographer is unknown. They were most likely purchased by the donor, artist Frank W. Stokes, when he lived and studied in France from 1887-1892. Some of the artists appear to have been fellow students, friends, and instructors of Mr. Stokes. He provided annotations and opinions on roughly one-third of the photos, describing personal anecdotes and opinions regarding the artistsThu Oct 16 15:24:35 EDT 2014batch19245
