Global tectonics by P Kearey( Book )

73 editions published between 1989 and 2013 in English and held by 1,499 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The third edition of this widely acclaimed textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to all prospects of global tectonics. Revisions to this new edition reflect the most significant recent advances in the field, providing a thorough, accessible, and up-to-date text. Combining a historical approach with process science, Global Tectonics provides a careful balance between geological and geophysical material in both continental and oceanic regimes." "New and expanded chapters in this third edition include Precambrian tectonics and the supercontinent cycle; mantle processes, including mantle plumes; the implications of plate tectonics for environmental change; large igneous provinces; rifted continental margins; ocean ridges; continental transforms; subduction zones; and numerous orogenic examples. Written in an engaging style, this important text is an essential reference for undergraduates and graduate students who have a basic introduction in the geosciences."--Jacket

Responses to History of Geophysics Survey by Center for History of Physics (American Institute of Physics)( )

1 edition published in 1997 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Responses to a survey of approximately 250 leading geophysicists worldwide, conducted by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) Center for History of Physics and the Committe on History of Geophysics of the American Geophysical Union in 1997. Recipients were asked to send copies of their curriculum vitae and a list of publications as Part One of the survey and were then asked to discuss their entry into science in general and geophysics specifically as a career; how their scientific achievements came about and major efforts they were involved in which did not achieve the hoped for results; changes from one discipline to another; funding sources; the role of other disciplines in their own research; their work as educators; and their involvement in geophysics-related institutions. Responses, including questionnaires, curriculum vitae, lists of publications, or autobiographical statements, were contributed by: Philip H. Abelson, Keiiti Aki, Leroy R. Alldredge, Clarence R.
