Variable reluctance transducer for use in wind tunnel pitch damping measurements by Frank J Regan ( Book )
2 editions published in 1965 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This report describes the theory of operation and the electrical and mechanical design of a variable reluctance transducer for measuring the angular amplitude of a wind tunnel pitch damping model. Data acquired with this device are compared with those obtained using conventional photographic techniques. (Author)
Map of summer and winter trails in the Lake Placid region by John Eric Holmes ( )

PITCH DAMPING TESTS OF THE M823 RESEARCH STORE WITH CRUCIFORM AND SPLIT- SKIRT STABILIZERS ( )
1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The M823 configuration is an instrumented free fall store used in bomb stability research programs. The report presents the results of the pitch damping wind tunnel tests of the basic M823 forebody to which cruciform and split-skirt stabilizers were attached
Magnus wind tunnel tests of the 5 inch/38 and 5 inch/54 rap projectile ( Book )
1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The RAP is gun-launched, rocket-assisted projectile. Wind tunnel tests were carried out for two 5 inch weapons, one for a 38, the other for a 54 caliber gun. The purpose of these tests was to measure the Magnus force and moment coefficients. In addition, the normal force and pitching moment coefficients were also obtained. (Author)
Static wind tunnel tests of the m823 research store with fixed and free-spinning tails ( Book )
1 edition published in 1967 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The M823 configuration is an instrumented free fall store used in bomb stability research programs. The report presents the results of the static wind tunnel tests of the basic forebody to which have been attached various stabilizers. These stabilizers include fixed and free-spinning cruciform tails and free-spinning monoplane tails. (Author)
A Powered Flight Six-Degree-of-Freedom Trajectory Program for Vehicles with Freely Spinning Tail Stabilizers ( Book )
1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
This program provides for the simulation of powered six-degree-of-freedom trajectories over a spherical rotating earth for those vehicles which have a fore and aft section, which may or may not rotate at different spin rates, but, which rotate about a common longitudinal axis. The program does not permit any mass or inertial asymmetries, but it can be run using either a rolling or nonrolling vehicle axis system and a variable integration time step. (Author)
Dungeons & dragons : fantasy adventure game : basic rulebook by Gary Gygax ( Book )
1 edition published in 2001 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Magnus Measurements on the M823 Research Store with Fixed and Freely Spinning Cruciform Stabilizers, Freely Spinning Monoplane Stabilizers and Split- Skirt Stabilizers ( )
1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The M823 configuration is an instrumented free-fall store used in bomb stability research programs. This report presents the results of Magnus wind-tunnel tests on the basic forebody with fixed and freely spinning cruciform stabilizers, freely spinning monoplane stabilizers and split-skirt stabilizers
Static Multiple-Load Measurement Technique as Utilized in the Naval Surface Weapons Center's Wind Tunnels ( Book )
1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
This report describes the basic scheme used in the Naval Surface Weapons Center's wind tunnels for measuring static forces and moments on wind-tunnel models. The general fundamentals used in the design of balances are explained as well as how the calibrations are conducted and how the data are reduced. The basic technique consists of using multiple combined loads in the calibration of the balance and in using an iterative approach to reduce the balance electrical output to aerodynamic loads
John E. Holmes collection by John Eric Holmes ( )
in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The John E. Holmes Collection consists of four photographs and a typed extract from an order issued at Fort Gibbon, Alaska, in 1915. Three of the photographs show Holmes mushing dogs at Iditarod, Seward, and Candle, Alaska. The fourth photograph, a real-photo postcard, shows a Siberian Eskimo woman and child. The order concerns delivering dogs to telegraph stations between Fort Gibbon and Chena, Alaska
MODIFLY: A Modular Multi-Degree-of-Freedom Trajectory Program ( Book )
1 edition published in 1979 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
MODIFLY is a modular trajectory simulation computer program which was written so as to be effective, efficient, and easily modified. The program was designed primarily for the simulation of typical autonomous guided missiles in which roughly equal consideration is given to the simulations of the seekers, guidance, autopilot, controls, and aerodynamics. It was written in FORTRAN IV language for use on a CDC 6500 computer and uses overlay files and a library edit routine. (Author)
Wrap-Around-Fin (WAF) Pressure Distribution ( Book )
1 edition published in 1973 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The principal difference between a wrap around fin and a planar fin is that the WAF exhibits an induced rolling moment at zero degree angle of attack, while a straight fin has none. The Naval Ordnance Laboratory, along with other members of The Technical Cooperation Program, initiated a joint investigation into the causes of the induced roll moment. Measurements of the pressure distribution over both the convex and concave sides of a WAF showed that the primary difference in pressure across the fin occurred immediately behind the leading edge with the pressure on the convex side apparently being affected more by the curvature than that on the concave side. In general, for a WAF with fixed curvature, it appeared that the physical characteristic which would have the most effect on changing the roll moment would be the fin cross-sectional profile, especially the leading-edge profile.
