1 edition published in 1856 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Subject: Political cartoon depicting representatives of the groups which united to form the Republican party as they appeal to the 1856 Republican presidential candidate, John C. Frémont. At far left, a scrawny man advocates temperance and vegetarianism. A woman in trousers and knee-length skirt, who holds a riding whip and smokes a cigarette, supports women's suffrage. A ragged man with a bottle in one hand pleads for "equal division of property." A sharp-faced, scrawny older woman in low-cut dress invites Frémont to a free-love society meeting, "and you will, be sure to enjoy yourself, for we are all Freemounters." A young Roman Catholic priest asks for support of "the power of the Pope." An African American man, dressed in elaborate clothes with an absurdly ruffled shirt front, declares "De poppylation ob color comes in first--arter dat, you may do wot you pleases." Frémont, at far right, promises "You shall all have what you desire--and be sure that the glorious principles of popery, Fourier, ism, free love, womans rights, the Maine law, and above all the equality of our colored brethren, shall be maintained, if I get into the Presidential chair."
