The premiere of 'The Rite of Spring' in Paris on 29 May 1913 was the most significant event in twentieth-century classical music and the shock of this revolutionary score can still be felt today. This collection celebrates the centenary of this pivotal occasion by bringing together all thirty-seven recordings of the work in the catalogue of Decca, Deutsches Grammophon and Philips, spanning over sixty years and including three for piano duets. The set also includes an archive recording of Stravinsky's violin concerto conducted by the composer, with Samuel Dushkin as the soloist, who gave the premiere performance of the work
