24 editions published between 1956 and 2009 in French and held by 175 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Drives, affects, behavior by Rudolph Maurice Loewenstein( )

21 editions published between 1953 and 2005 in English and held by 172 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The papers published in this volume do not attempt to present the psychoanalytic theory of human behavior in a systematic fashion. What gives them unity, however, is their place in the only existing coherent theory of human behavior capable of encompassing the intricate developmental relationship of the individual and his human environment. The papers here assembled are contributions to important areas of psychoanalytic knowledge. One such area is the function of theory in psychoanalysis. As the core of psychoanalytic hypotheses, the theory of instinctual drives and its connection to affects in general and to anxiety in particular are discussed. Two papers deal with little explored facets: sublimation of the drives and their relation to values and problems of behavior. Finally, in this section, there are two papers presenting reformulations of the theory of the aggressive and libidinal drives. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2005 APA, all rights reserved)

The origins of psycho-analysis : letters to Wilhelm Fliess, drafts and notes, 1887-1902 by Sigmund Freud( Book )

18 editions published between 1954 and 1977 in English and held by 91 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book consists of a selection of letters from Sigmund Freud to Wilhelm Fliess, a Berlin physician and biologist, written between the years 1887 and 1902. The letters, with other documents left by Fliess, came into the hands of a second-hand dealer during the Nazi period in Germany and thus into the editors' possession. Fliess's letters to Freud have not been found. The published letters are numbered in order of date, and the notes and drafts are designated by letters of the alphabet. The letters are nearly all dated by the author, or alternatively the date is established by the postmark. In the few cases where drafts or notes are undated they have been inserted by the editors in what appears to be the correct chronological order by reason of their contents. Omissions have been indicated by dots. This volume contains nothing sensational, and is principally intended for the reader and serious student of Freud's published works"--Book.
