Proclamation of Nov. 1, 1770, calling for the "armed men, tumultously and riotously assembled," to prevent His Majesty's surveyors from partitioning lots on the east side of the Hudson River. Certificate asserting that John Rookes is entitled to 3000 acres of land in Fincastle County, Va., signed by Dunmore Dec. 7, 1773. Military warrant at foot of page ordering the land to be surveyed and set off for George Washington, who will receive the land that was Rookes's, Feb. 14, 1785.
