James Eells(
Book
)
12 editions published between 1982 and 1992 in English and held by 130 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
These original research papers, written during a period of over a quarter of a century, have two main objectives. The first is to lay the foundations of the theory of harmonic maps between Riemannian Manifolds, and the second to establish various existence and regularity theorems as well as the explicit constructions of such maps

Developments of harmonic maps, wave maps and YangMills fields into biharmonic maps, biwave maps and biYangMills fields by
YuanJen Chiang(
Book
)
1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds were first established in 1964. Wave maps are harmonic maps on Minkowski spaces and have been studied since the 1990s. YangMills fields, the critical points of YangMills functionals of connections whose curvature tensors are harmonic, were explored by a few physicists in the 1950s, and biharmonic maps (generalizing harmonic maps) were introduced in 1986. The book presents an overview of the important developments made in these fields since they first came up. Furthermore, it introduces biwave maps (generalizing wave maps) which were first studied in 2009, and biYangMills fields (generalizing YangMills fields) first investigated in 2008. Other topics discussed are exponential harmonic maps, exponential wave maps and exponential YangMills fields P. 4 of cover

Harmonic Maps and Minimal Immersions with Symmetries (AM130) : Methods of Ordinary Differential Equations Applied to Elliptic
Variational Problems. (AM130) by
James Eells(
)
2 editions published between 1993 and 2016 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The aim of this book is to study harmonic maps, minimal and parallel mean curvature immersions in the presence of symmetry. In several instances, the latter permits reduction of the original elliptic variational problem to the qualitative study of certain ordinary differential equations: the authors' primary objective is to provide representative examples to illustrate these reduction methods and their associated analysis with geometric and topological applications. The material covered by the book displays a solid interplay involving geometry, analysis and topology: in particular, it includes a basic presentation of 1cohomogeneous equivariant differential geometry and of the theory of harmonic maps between spheres
