Harry Seidler : lifework by Vladimir Belogolovskiĭ( Book )

1 edition published in 2014 in English and held by 128 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A comprehensive survey of the work of a master of mid- to late-twentieth-century modernist design. Over the course of a career spanning more than five decades, Australian architect Harry Seidler embarked upon a long series of dramatically innovative and sculptural houses with a rare sensitivity to site, space, and structure. And while these soaring, inspiring houses have been the source of Seidler's fame within architectural circles, this book gives a complete view of this modern master's body of work for the first time. Seidler is now widely acknowledged as a leading member of the postwar generation of modernists and one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century in the southern hemisphere. With commissions not only in Australia but also in Austria, France, Israel, Italy, Mexico, and Hong Kong since establishing his own practice in Sydney in 1948, his work has influenced the course of modernist design into the twenty-first century

"The work of Oscar Niemeyer added a new perspective to Modern architecture in the twentieth century. The designer of Brasilia showed that the rhythmic, sensuous lines of Brazilian modernism were as legitimately Modern as the rectilinear lines of the Bauhaus. Now the last living Modern Master, Niemeyer is known primarily for his large-scale institutional and civic designs throughout Brazil and Europe. Yet another significant aspect of his career has been virtually ignored: his residential designs. Oscar Niemeyer Houses showcases these unappreciated architectural gems."--Jacket
Les courbes du temps : mémoires by Oscar Niemeyer( Book )

5 editions published in 1999 in French and held by 47 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Oscar Niemeyer buildings by Alan Hess( Book )

4 editions published in 2009 in German and English and held by 44 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"At age 100, Oscar Niemeyer is universally acknowledged as a master of form, color, and light - the last living Modern master. Niemeyer is known primarily for his large-scale institutional and civic designs throughout Brazil and Europe - daringly conceptual works that challenged twentieth-century orthodoxy about Modernism, materials, and structure. This comprehensive book, a companion to Rizzoli's Oscar Niemeyer Houses, presents a reevaluation of his greatest buildings, in all new color photography specially commissioned for this book." "Featured are the architect's most seminal work, including: Ministry of Education and Health, Rio de Janeiro; Brasilia; New Pampulha Yacht Club, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Mondadori Headquarters, Milan; Le Havre Central Cultural Center, France; Niteroi Museum of Contemporary Art, Brazil; and the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. A periodic resident of Rio de Janeiro, photographer Alan Weintraub has been granted unprecedented access to these remarkable structures - from Brazil to North Africa to Italy. As a result, Oscar Niemeyer Buildings reveals the master's brilliant artistry, and his eloquent, sinuous, utterly livable Modernism."--Jacket
Oscar Niemeyer : eine Legende der Moderne = a legend of modernism by Ingeborg Flagge( Book )

5 editions published in 2013 in English and German and held by 44 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012) is a twentieth century classic. He became world renowned for planning and building the capital Brasilia, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987. In 1988 he was awarded the Pritzker Prize. His buildings are deeply respectful of the site and are characterized by an unmistakable, almost Baroque design impulse. Niemeyer, who was highly prolific up until his death, is one of the most productive architect's in history and designed over 600 buildings. This second and revised edition of "Oscar Niemeyer: A Legend of Modernity" has a new preface and an updated biography and list of works
