THIS volume is concerned with a substantial branch of number theory of which no connected account appears to exist; we describe the general nature of the constituent topics in the introduction. Although some excellent surveys dealing with limited aspects of the subject under con sideration have been published, the literature as a whole is far from easy to study. This is due in part to the extent of the literature; it is necessary to thread one's way through a maze of results, a complicated structure of interrelationships, and many conflicting notations. In addition, however, not all the original papers are free from obscurities, and consequently some of these papers are difficult (a few even exceed ingly difficult) to master. We try to give a readable and coherent account of the subject, con taining a crosssection of the more interesting results. We felt that it would have been neither practicable nor desirable to attempt a compre hensive account; we treat each aspect of the subject from some special point of view, and select results accordingly. Needless to say, this approach entails the omission of many interesting and important results (quite apart from defects in the selection due to errors of judgement on our part). Those results selected for inclusion are, however, proved in complete detail and without the assumption of any prior knowledge on the part of the reader

The method of trigonometrical sums in the theory of numbers by
I. M Vinogradov(
Book
)
17 editions published between 1863 and 2004 in English and held by 383 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This text begins with a discussion of general lemmas and advances to an investigation of Waring's problem, including explorations of singular series, the contribution of the basic intervals, and an estimate for G(n). Further topics include approximation by the fractional parts of the values of a polynomial, estimates for Weyl sums, much more. 1954 edition

Analytic number theory : essays in honour of Klaus Roth(
Book
)
4 editions published in 2009 in English and held by 136 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Klaus Roth's pioneering research in the field of number theory has led to important and substantial breakthroughs in many areas, including diophantine approximation, irregularities of distribution and large sieve theory. His work on the ThueSiegelRoth Theorem earned him a Fields Medal in 1958 the first British mathematician to receive the honour." "Analytic Number Theory: Essays in Honour of Klaus Roth comprises 32 essays from close colleagues and leading experts in those fields in which he has worked, and provides great insight into the historical development of the subject matter and the importance of Roth's contributions to number theory and beyond. His influence is also discussed in relation to more recent mathematical advances."Jacket
