64 editions published between 1982 and 2013 in 3 languages and held by 1,001 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Since the first edition was published in 1983, this highly-regarded introductory textbook has been used by many generations of students worldwide. It is specifically tailored to the requirements of first or second year geology undergraduates. The third edition has been extensively revised and updated to include many new sections and over 50 new or redrawn illustrations. There are now over 220 illustrations, many incorporating a second colour to highlight essential features. The format has been changed to enhance the visual attractiveness of the book. Geological structures and moving plates by R. G Park( Book )

24 editions published between 1987 and 1997 in English and held by 552 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Introducing tectonics, rock structures and mountain belts by R. G Park( Book )

11 editions published in 2012 in English and Undetermined and held by 330 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An explanation of key concepts of tectonics and rock structures. The reader is introduced to large-scale Earth structure and theory of plate tectonics before dealing with geological structures such as faults and folds, and the final three chapters deal with orogenic belts
Alpine tectonics( Book )

21 editions published between 1989 and 2007 in English and Undetermined and held by 317 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume is the result of a Conference on Alpine Tectonics held in London in May 1987. The first group of papers, Tectonic evolution of the external zones of the Alps, includes chapters on Helvetic structure and on the external zones of the Western Alps. The second section deals with the tectonic evolution of the Internal and southern zones of the Alps. The third is entitled Models of the development of the Alpine chain; there follow papers on thermo-tectonic evolution, a review of the palaeomagnetic and magnetic anisotropy results from the Alps, and a final paper 'Time and place in Alpine orogenesis'
Introducing geology : a guide to the world of rocks by R. G Park( Book )

19 editions published between 2006 and 2016 in English and German and held by 185 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume explains in simple terms what geology can tell us about the world. Many objects of great beauty and which excite our curiosity, such as crystals or fossils, are to be found by examining rocks
Evolution of the Lewisian and comparable Precambrian high grade terrains( Book )

19 editions published between 1986 and 2007 in English and held by 153 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume derives from a conference held in March 1985 co-sponsored by the Tectonic and Metamorphic Studies Groups of the Geological Society and WG4 of the International Lithosphere Programme. After a review of BGS work in the Outer Hebrides there are sections dealing with aspects of the petrology, geochemistry and petrogenesis of Lewisian rocks, and on structural aspects and geophysical applications. A wider view is taken of the Lewisian as an example of an early Precambrian high-grade terrain, and the last six papers are included to make comparisons with allied terrains elsewhere
The making of Europe : a geological history by Graham Park( Book )

7 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 139 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Graham Park examines the way in which Europe has been assembled through geological time by the addition of various components, some of which have travelled a considerable distance across the globe
Evolution of the Lewisian( Book )

The Lewisian geology of Gairloch, NW Scotland by R. G Park( Book )

8 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 116 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This Memoir presents a detailed account of one of the most critical and interesting parts of the Lewisian complex of NW Scotland; a detached fragment of a supercontinent made up of Laurentia, Siberia and Baltica, which existed at the end of the early Proterozoic period. The Gairloch area, together with neighbouring Loch Maree, is the only part of the mainland Lewisian outcrop where Palaeoproterozoic supracrustal rocks (the Loch Maree Group) and their relationships to the Archaean basement can be studied, and has been the subject of a considerable amount of research, spanning a period of more than forty years. The Loch Maree Group represents an amalgamation of oceanic, trench, and arc assemblages with continental basement, and forms part of a Palaeoproterozoic collisional orogen stretching from Labrador through South Greenland to Scandinavia."--Jacket
Introducing natural resources by R. G Park( Book )

6 editions published between 2015 and 2016 in English and Undetermined and held by 114 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Over the many millennia that the human race has inhabited the planet, a practical use has been found for almost every natural resource that is here. However, since the Industrial Revolution, many of the resources that we have come to rely on are being depleted, some at an alarming rate. The misuse of others, such as fossil fuels, is causing such damage to the environment that measures are being taken at an international level to restrict their use. This book explains how the natural resources of the Earth originated, by outlining the astronomical and geological evolution of the planet in the early period of its existence --
