Western Maryland pioneers : marriages, early settlers, births and deaths with location by Hilda Nancy Ersula Snowberger Chance( Book )

2 editions published in 1968 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This is not a history of Maryland but lists, alphabetically arranged, of 8,000 early settlers, marriages, births and deaths, with dates, from cemeteries and newspapers, land grants and early wills index. These are taken from two large volumes of Thomas Scharf, 1882, a marveolous collection listed under each cemetery, town or paper but not alphabetized, requiring many hours of search ... I have spent weeks writing and rewriting, arranging and coding for location, for quick search, keeping intact any genealogical material. Some of these families came here when Eastern Coast was Virginia Company. I found some who had earlier land grants in Delaware. Mary moved to South Maryland, Pennsylvania, or westerm states. Frederick County was first and Montgomery taken from Frederick, 1776."
