Logical effort : designing fast CMOS circuits by Ivan Edward Sutherland( Book )

15 editions published between 1999 and 2009 in English and held by 254 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The brainchild of circuit and computer graphics pioneers Ivan Sutherland and Bob Sproull, "logical effort" will change the way you approach design challenges. This book begins by equipping you with a sound understanding of the method's essential procedures and concepts - so you can apply it immediately. Later chapters explore the theory behind the method and detail its specialized applications

18 editions published between 2003 and 2005 in English and held by 162 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The federal government generates and increasingly saves a large and growing fraction of its records in electronic form. In 1998, the National Archives and Record Administration (NARA) launched it Electronic Archives (ERA) program to create a system to pre

Using program transformations to derive line-drawing algorithms by Robert F Sproull( Book )

3 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A wide variety of line-drawing algorithms can be derived by applying program transformations to a simple, obviously correct algorithm. The transformations increase the algorithm's performance and eliminate the need for floating-point computations. Two familiar algorithms are derived in this way: Bresenham's algorithm and the digital differential analyzer (DDA). The transformations are then used to derive several highly parallel variants of Bresenham's algorithm, designed for use on displays that can generate more than one pixel at a time. The treatment shows a complete, extended example of the practical use of program transformations. Moreover, the transformations derive Bresenham's algorithm without recourse to complex geometric arguments. (Author)
Translating concurrent communicating programs into delay-insensitive circuits by Erik Brunvand( Book )

4 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "Programs written in a subset of Occam are automatically translated into delay-insensitive circuits using syntax-directed techniques. The resulting circuits are improved using semantics-preserving circuit-to-circuit transformations. Since each step of the translation process can be proven correct, the resulting circuit behavior is a faithful copy of the original program behavior. A compiler has been constructed that automatically performs the translation and transformation."

A characterization of ten hidden-surface algorithms by Ivan Edward Sutherland( Book )

3 editions published between 1973 and 1974 in English and Undetermined and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paper asserts that the hidden-surface problem is mainly one of sorting. The various surfaces of an object to be shown in hidden-surface or hidden-line form must be sorted to find out which ones are visible at various places on the screen. Surfaces may be sorted by lateral position in the picture (XY), by depth (Z), or by other criteria. The paper shows that the order of sorting and the types of sorting used form differences among the existing hidden-surface algorithms. (Modified author abstract)

Specification and automatic verification of self-timed queues by David L Dill( Book )

2 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Speed-independent circuit design is of increasing interest because of global timing problems in VLSI. Unfortunately, speed-independent design is very subtle. We propose the use of state-machine verification tools to ameliorate this problem. This paper illustrates issues in the modelling, specification, and verification of speed-independent circuits through consideration of self-timed queues. User-level specifications are given as Petri nets, which are translated into trace structures for automatic processing. Three different implementations of queues are considered: a chain of queue cells, two parallel chains, and "circular buffer" example using a separate RAM
