Washington, to her sister by Jane M Pierce ( Book )
1 edition published in 1853 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Written eight months after the death of their third and last child, Bennie, Mrs. Pierce uses mourning stationery and says to her sister: "I see no strangers during the day, but after eight in the evening, any friend or acquaintance who wishes to see me enough to call." "Two applications for money to build churches are lying by me ... poor widows & c & c come very often and letters asking offices or help continually. One should be rich to live in this place." Jane Pierce had been too much in shock from her son's death to attend her husband's inauguration in March of the same year
