This report presents the final listing of solar lines recorded in the NRL echelle spectra photographed at high resolution from Aerobee rockets flown in 1961 and 1964. The wavelength range covered is 3069A to 2095A. It is intended to accompany NRL report no. 7788, 'An Atlas of the Solar Spectrum Between 2226 and 2992 Angstroms, ' which presents the solar irradiance at 0.03 A resolution as derived from the echelle spectra. Solar wavelengths are given to 0.01 A, and estimated solar intensities are listed on a visual scale of 1 to 9. Identifications have been made from a detailed study of the multiplets in individual spectra and are based on a search of the spectroscopic literature. Laboratory wavelengths, multiplet numbers, and references are cited for each line. Approximately 6150 lines are reported, of which 80% are identified

The photochemistry of the earth's upper atmosphere is controlled fundamentally by the incident radiation from the sun, especially the ultraviolet that is absorbed at levels above the tropopause. This atlas presents the incident solar irradiance with the high spectral resolution necessary to calculate the reaction produced when this energy is absorbed by atmospheric molecular gases. Many of these molecules have absorption bands that consist of very narrow lines. Solar irradiance in units of (mu)w/sq cm/A are presented in the wavelength range of 2226 to 2992 A. The curves were determined from high-resolution rocket echelle spectrograms photographed above the earth's atmosphere. Each panel of the atlas covers 14A, with some overlap from panel to panel. The spectral resolution is approximately 0.03A

Almost perfect operation of Skylab Experiment S082A resulted in the return of 1032 extreme ultraviolet solar spectroheliograms, providing an enormous wealth of new information about the sun in the wavelength range 171 to 630. The present User's Guide was written for guest investigators and other ATM experimenters who will collaborate in interpreting the returned data. The first section is devoted to a brief overview of the Apollo Telescope Mount (ATM) as a whole and the major areas in which the data have been found to be most important. There follows a detailed description of the spectroheliograph and the special Schumann film it utilized. The complementary relationshop to the 5 other major instruments on ATM is explained. A large portion of the Guide is devoted to a description of the observations, the data catalogs and documentation, and listings of important events recorded during almost 9 months of nearly continuous operation of Skylab, beginning in May 1973. The main part of the Guide describes filmed copies of the data available from the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC), Greenbelt, Maryland. A thorough discussion of how to extract data from the photographic images includes a special section on the derivation of relative intensity values. The Appendix contains an extensive bibliography of papers on the ATM results published by the Naval Research Laboratory data analysis team. A spectroheliogram overlay scaled to the NSSDC film identifies prominent spectral features. (Author)
