Laser spectroscopy VII : proceedings of the seventh international conference, Hawaii, June 24-28, 1985 by International Conference on Laser Spectroscopy( Book )

15 editions published between 1985 and 2013 in English and held by 229 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Seventh International Conference on Laser Spectroscopy or SEICOLS'85 was held at the Maui Surf Hotel, Hawaii, USA, June 24 to 28, 1985. Like its pre decessors at Vail, Megeve, Jackson Lake, Rottach-Egern, Jasper Park, and Interlaken, SEICOLS '85 aimed at providin9 an informal setting for active scientists to meet and discuss recent developments and applications in laser spectroscopy. The Conference site on the sunny sands of famed Kaanapali Beach on the Island of Maui, although perhaps not the traditional mountain resort, offered nonetheless an atmosphere most inspiring to creative discus sions during the unscheduled afternoons. The Conference was truly international: 223 scientists represented 19 countries, including Australia, Canada, People's Republic of China, Denmark, Finland, France Germany (FRG), Great Britain, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and U.S.A. The intense scientific program included 14 topical sessions with 59 invi ted talks. Approximately 60 additional invited papers and 16 postdeadline pa pers were presented during three lively evening poster sessions. The present Proceedings contain oral as well as poster and postdeadline papers. We thank all authors for the timely preparation of their manuscirpts, now available to a wider audience. We would also like to thank the members of the International Steering Committee for their valuable suggestions and advice. Our special thanks go to the members of the Program Committee for their painstaking efforts
Self-focusing : past and present : fundamentals and prospects by C. E Ascheron( Book )

12 editions published between 2007 and 2009 in English and held by 92 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Self-focusing: Past and Present presents a comprehensive treatment of self-focusing and reviews both theoretical and experimental investigations of self-focusing. It connects the extensive early literature on self-focusing, filamentation, self-trapping, and collapse with more recent studies aimed at issues such as self-focusing of femtosecond pulses, white light generation, and the generation of filaments in air with lengths of more than 10 km. It also describes some modern advances in self-focusing theory including the influence of beam nonparaxiality on self-focusing collapse. In addition, this text reprints three key articles in the field, as well as the paper that describes the first laboratory observation of self-focusing phenomena with photographic evidence. Self-focusing: Past and Present is of interest to scientists and engineers working with lasers and their applications, as well as students, researchers, and laser and eye surgeons

Fundamentals of sum-frequency spectroscopy by Y. R Shen( Book )

5 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 63 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first book on the topic, and written by the founder of the technique, this comprehensive resource provides a detailed overview of sum-frequency spectroscopy, its fundamental principles, and the wide range of applications for surfaces, interfaces, and bulk. Beginning with an overview of the historical context, and introductions to the basic theory of nonlinear optics and surface sum-frequency generation, topics covered include discussion of different experimental arrangements adopted by researchers, notes on proper data analysis, an up-to-date survey commenting on the wide range of successful applications of the tool, and a valuable insight into current unsolved problems and potential areas to be explored in the future. With the addition of chapter appendices that offer the opportunity for more in-depth theoretical discussion, this is an essential resource that integrates all aspects of the subject and is ideal for anyone using, or interested in using, sum-frequency spectroscopy

Competing Dissociation Channels in the Infrared Multiphoton Decomposition of Ethyl Vinyl Ether( Book )

2 editions published between 1982 and 1983 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Infrared multiphoton decomposition of ethyl vinyl ether (EVE) has been investigated by the crossed laser-molecular beam technique. Competition is observed between the two lowest-energy dissociation channels: (1) EVE yield CH3CHO + C2H4, and (2) EVE yield CH2CHO + C2H5. Center-of-mass product translational energy distributions were obtained for both dissociation channels. The products of reactions (1) and (2) are formed with mean translational energies of 31 kcal/mole and 5 kcal/mole, respectively. The branching ratio shifts dramatically in favor of the higher energy radical producing channel as the laser intensity and energy fluence are increased, in agreement with the qualitative predictions of statistical unimolecular rate theory.
