Two revisions of Rolle's English Psalter commentary and the related canticles by Richard Rolle( Book )

in English, Middle and held by 252 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Richard Rolle, the Yorkshire hermit and religious writer (d. 1349) wrote two commentaries on the Psalms, one in Latin and the other in English. Some fifty years after his death, his English commentary was revised by a series of Lollard writers of very different views; this was in turn further modified by others of a similar radical outlook. The work attests to a complex organisation of a team of scholars over a considerable period of time; the study also shows that the revision was ongoing, and not in every respect complete. Professor Hudson has provided, for the first time, a full edition of the first of these Lollard revisions, and gives detailed evidence for the second. All manuscripts of both versions have been used, and the edition also includes the twelve canticle commentaries, which seem to have been regarded as part of the whole."--Publisher's description
Back injury among healthcare workers : causes, solutions, and impacts by William Charney( Book )

11 editions published between 2003 and 2004 in English and held by 172 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently calculated nearly 60,000 musculoskeletal injuries to healthcare workers resulting from heavy lifting during attempts to move patients. Often the nurses, aides, orderlies, and attendants who suffered permanent injuries were forced out of the profession, straining an already inadequate pool of workers and wasting valuable knowledge and ability. Back Injury Among Healthcare Workers: Causes, Solutions, and Impacts presents the latest research on this topic from an epidemiological point of view. The book highlights case studies from actual injured workers, along with analysis of how this problem is being addressed around the world. This in-depth study also discusses the legal and rehabilitative obstacles to returning to work, and suggests new policies for the safe lifting and moving of patients. The editors compile recommended solutions from leading names in the field, detailing how healthcare facilities can create safe work environments to prevent disabling back injuries

Editing as an academic mode of work has had a variable 'press' - it is often seen as just plumbing. But without editions no historian of whatever critical persuasion could operate. Texts that are not edited are effectively invisible. The advent of electronic means of text production has also raised new possibilities and new problems that need to be openly considered rather than ignored. The papers in this volume reflect those concerns, and explore the ways forward. How do the best editorial procedures of the past get transmitted to the future? A distinguished line-up of experienced editors and younger scholars actively grappling with these issues reflect on their engagement with the challenges of textual theory and editorial practice. No single solution emerges as applicable to all texts and for all editions; the individual characteristics of each text and its transmission, together with the intended audience of each edition, emerge as primary areas for consideration

"Richard Rolle, the Yorkshire hermit and scholar (d. 1349) wrote two commentaries on the Psalms, one in Latin and one in English. Some fifty years after he died, his English commentary was revised by a series of Lollard writers, and this redaction was itself subsequently modified by other revisers, having a similar radical outlook. This edition presents for the first time a full edition of the first of the Lollard revision, and gives detailed evidence for the second. It is based on a full study of all manuscripts of both versions, and includes the commentaries on the twelve Canticles which accompanied the Psalter commentary, and seem to have been regarded as a part of the whole. This first Lollard revision reveals the work of a complex organisation: an academic team which worked on the text for a considerable time, and whose work was not in every respect complete."--Publisher's website
