Several complex variables III : geometric function theory by G. M Khenkin ( Book )
1 edition published in 1988 in English and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The first contribution describes basic concepts, facts and problems of the modern theory of entire functions of several complex variables. The second contribution deals with analogies of basic Nevanlinna's theorems about the distribution of values in the multidimensional case and various applications. The third contribution is devoted to invariant metrics and volumes and their applications in problems of function theory of several variables. The fourth contribution touches upon various results concerning the rigidity of holomorphic mappings of complex spaces beginnning with classical Liouville's and Picard's theorems. Contribution five presents results concerning extension of holomorphic mappings to the boundaries of domains, and results about correspondence of boundaries and equivalence of domains with respect to biholomorphic mappings. Contribution six dwells on the problem of biholomorphic equivalence of manifolds in this differential geometric aspect. The last contribution reviews applications of multidimensional complex geometry in modern physical theories - supergravitation and supergauge fields. This volume will be useful to complex analysts and physicists. It is rounded off by an extensive bibliography
Several complex variables II : function theory in classical domains : complex potential theory by G. M Khenkin ( Book )
1 edition published in 1994 in English and held by 29 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This volume of the Encyclopaedia contains four parts each of which being an informative survey of a topic in the field of several complex variables. Thefirst deals with residue theory and its applications to integrals depending on parameters, combinatorial sums and systems of algebraic equations. The second part contains recent results in complex potential theory and the third part treats function theory in the unit ball covering research of the last twenty years. The latter part includes an up-to-date account of research related to a list of problems, which was published by Rudin in 1980. The last part of the book treats complex analysis in the futuretube. The future tube is an important concept in mathematical physics, especially in axiomatic quantum field theory, and it is related to Penrose'swork on "the complex geometry of the real world". Researchers and graduate students in complex analysis and mathematical physics will use thisbook as a reference and as a guide to exciting areas of research
Several complex variables ( Book )

Several complex variables V : complex analysis in partial differential equations and mathematical physics by G. M Khenkin ( Book )
1 edition published in 1993 in English and held by 26 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This volume of the Encyclopaedia contains three contributions in the field of complex analysis. The topics treated are mean periodicity and convolutionequations, Yang-Mills fields and the Radon-Penrose transform, and stringtheory. The latter two have strong links with quantum field theory and the theory of general relativity. In fact, the mathematical results described inthe book arose from the need of physicists to find a sound mathematical basis for their theories. The authors present their material in the formof surveys which provide up-to-date accounts of current research. The book will be immensely useful to graduate students and researchers in complex analysis, differential geometry, quantum field theory, string theoryand general relativity
Several complex variables I : introduction to complex analysis by E. M Chirka ( Book )
1 edition published in 1997 in English and held by 14 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
From the reviews of the first printing, published as Volume 7 of the Encyclopaedia of Mathematical Sciences: " ... In this volume, we find an introductory essay entitled "Remarkable Facts of Complex Analysis" by Vitushkin ... This is followed by articles by G.M. Khenkin on integral formulas in complex analysis, by E.M. Chirka on complex analytic sets, by Vitushkin on the geometry of hypersurfaces and by P. Dolbeault, on the theory of residues in several variables. ... In sum, the volume under review is the first quarter of an important work that surveys an active branch of modern mathematics. Some of the individual articles are reminiscent in style of the early volumes of the first Ergebnisse series and will probably prove to be equally useful as a reference; all contain substantial lists of references." Bulletin of the American Mathematical Society, 1991 " ... This remarkable book has a helpfully informal style, abundant motivation, outlined proofs followed by precise references, and an extensive bibliography; it will be an invaluable reference and a companion to modern courses on several complex variables." ZAMP, Zeitschrift fr Angewandte Mathematik und Physik 1990 " ... comprehensive and authoritative survey of results in contemporary mathematics, indications of the directions of its future development, the material presented around pivotal facts whose understanding enables one to have a general view of the area, no proofs or only the outline of proofs, and extensive bibliographies. ... Browsing through this collection of surveys gives one a feeling of awe and admiration. Truly, complex analysis is vigorously alive. ... They are highly recommended to everyone with an interest in complex analysis." Medelingen van het wiskundig genootshap, 1992
Selected papers by Peter D Lax ( Book )
2 editions published in 1998 in French and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
A renowned mathematician who considers himself both applied and theoretical in his approach, Peter Lax has spent most of his professional career at NYU, making significant contributions to both mathematics and computing. He has written several important published works and has received numerous honours including the National Medal of Science, the Lester R. Ford Award, the Chauvenet Prize, the Semmelweis Medal, the Wiener Prize, and the Wolf Prize. Several students he has mentored have become leaders in their fields. These two volumes span the years from 1952 up until 1999, and cover many varying topics, from functional analysis, partial differential equations, and numerical methods to conservation laws, integrable systems and scattering theory. After each paper, or collection of papers, is a commentary placing the paper in context and where relevant discussing more recent developments. Many of the papers in these volumes have become classics and should be read by any serious student of these topics. In terms of insight, depth, and breadth, Lax has few equals. The reader of this selection will quickly appreciate his brilliance as well as his masterful touch. Having this collection of papers in one place allows one to follow the evolution of his ideas and mathematical interests and to appreciate how many of these papers initiated topics that developed lives of their own

NOUS INTRODUISONS LES CLASSES A#K DES ENSEMBLES FERMES (H#K, K)-LOCALEMENT RECTIFIABLES QUI ADMETTENT UN ESPACE TANGENT K-DIMENSIONNEL EN H#K-PRESQUE TOUT POINT. SUIVANT DES IDEES DE WERMER ET HENKIN, NOUS DEMONTRONS QUE TOUTE MESURE ORTHOGONALE DE C#N A SUPPORT DANS UN COMPACT DE CLASSE A#1 SE PROLONGE EN UNE (1,0)-FORME HOLOMORPHE DANS UN CERTAIN SOUS-ENSEMBLE ANALYTIQUE T DE DIMENSION PURE 1 DE C#N IS ET BORNE DANS C#N. NOUS EN DEDUISONS QUE CETTE MESURE SE DECOMPOSE EN SOMME FINIE DES MESURES ORTHOGONALES A PETITS SUPPORTS DANS T ET QUE L'ENVELOPPE POLYNOMIALE DE EST SA REUNION AVEC UN SOUS-ENSEMBLE ANALYTIQUE DE DIMENSION PURE 1 DE C#N IS (EVENTUELLEMENT VIDE). DE PLUS, T DEFINIT DANS C#N UN COURANT D'INTEGRATION DE MASSE FINIE ET A BORD RECTIFIABLE. LE PREMIER COROLLAIRE GENERALISE UN RESULTAT DE BISHOP ET GAMELIN. LE SECOND GENERALISE UN THEOREME DE WERMER, BISHOP, STOLZENBERG, ALEXANDER ET LAWRENCE. EN GENERALISANT LE THEOREME DE HARVEY ET LAWSON, NOUS DEMONTRONS QUE TOUT COURANT RECTIFIABLE FERME DE DIMENSION (2P-1) MAXIMALEMENT COMPLEXE ET A SUPPORT COMPACT A#2#P#-#1 EST LE BORD D'UNE P-CHAINE HOLOMORPHE DE MASSE FINIE AU SENS DES COURANTS POUR TOUT P 2. POUR P = 1, CE THEOREME EST ENCORE VALABLE SI L'ON SUPPOSE QUE VERIFIE LA CONDITION DU MOMENT. CE RESULTAT REPOND A UNE QUESTION DE KING. NOUS DEMONTRONS UN THEOREME DU TYPE DE HARTOGS ET LEVI POUR LE PROBLEME DU BORD DANS UN OUVERT Q-CONCAVE DE CP#N. NOUS EN DEDUISONS LE THEOREME DE HARTOGS ET LEVI GENERALISE, LE THEOREME DE GRUMAN, MOLZON, SHIFFMAN ET SIBONY GENERALISE ET LE THEOREME DE PROLONGEMENT DES FONCTIONS CR MEROMORPHES AU SENS DE HARVEY ET LAWSON. CE DERNIER RESULTAT EST DEMONTRE POUR LES FONCTIONS C#2 PAR DOLBEAULT, HENKIN ET EGALEMENT PAR PORTEN. LE CAS GENERAL EST DEMONTRE D'UNE AUTRE MANIERE PAR SARKIS EN UTILISANT NOTRE RESULTAT SUR L'ENVELOPPE POLYNOMIALE D'UN COMPACT A#1
