Um die Gefährten zu retten, setzt der stets unterkühlte, doch heldenhafte Mr. Spock sein Leben aufs Spiel. ... Wo der erste Star-Trek-Film nicht ganz überzeugte, erfüllte "Star Trek II" alle landläufigen Erwartungen und spielte in kurzer Zeit mehr als das Doppelte seines effektüberladenen Vorgängers ein. Die Charaktere sind hier wieder aus Fleisch und Blut, und auf die Dialoge wurde so viel Wert gelegt, daß stellenweise fast ein gefühlvolles Melodram entstand. "Der Zorn des Khan" beruht auf der "Raumschiff Enterprise"--Folge "Der schlafende Tiger", die 1966 erstmals ausgestrahlt wurde. Schon hier spielte Ricardo Montalban den bösen Khan. lhm verdankt auch der zweite Star-Trek-Film einen Großteil seiner Spannung. Denn Montalban verleiht dem Bösewicht ein gewisses Maß an Tiefgang und gewinnt auf diese Weise sogar die Sympathie der Zuschauer.
