44 editions published between 1951 and 2005 in English and held by 723 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Lucretius's On the Nature of the Universe is an important example of a popular genre of ancient literature, didactic poetry. The purpose of this genre is to give instruction to the reader on various topics ranging from farming to philosophy. Lucretius's purpose is to explain Epicureanism to his readers and win them over as followers of this philosophy. Because of the scope of Lucretius's poem, which includes both the origin and dissolution of the universe, and also on account of its meter (dactylic hexameter as in the Iliad), it may be called an epic, but not in the same sense as the heroic narratives of Homer and Vergil" -- by Roger Dunkle, Brooklyn College, c1986

Ecclesiastical history of the English people ; with Bede's letter to Egbert by Bede ( Book )
8 editions published in 1990 in English and held by 486 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
From the publisher. Starting with the invasion of Julius Caesar in the fifth century, Bede recorded the history of the English up to his own day in 731 A.D. A scholarly monk working in the north-east of England, Bede wrote the five books of his history in Latin. The Ecclesiastical History is his most famous work, and this edition provides the authoritative Colgrave translation, as well as a new translation of the Greater Chronicle, never before published in English. His Letter to Egbert gives his final reflections on the English Church just before his death. This is the only edition to include all three texts, and they are illuminated further by a detailed introduction and explanatory notes

A history of the English Church and people by Bede ( Book )
26 editions published between 1955 and 2010 in English and French and held by 94 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Written in AD 731, Bede's work opens with a background sketch of Roman Britain's geography and history. It goes on to tell of the kings and bishops, monks and nuns who helped to develop Anglo-Saxon government and religion during the crucial formative years of the English people. Leo Sherley-Price's translation brings us an accurate and readable version, in modern English, of a unique historical document. This edition now includes Bede's Letter to Egbert concerning pastoral care in early Anglo-Saxon England, at the heart of which lay Bede's denunciation of the false monasteries; and The Death of Bede, an admirable eye-witness account by Cuthbert, monk and later Abbot of Jarrow, both translated by D.H. Farmer
