La version aujourd'hui éditée par Ponto dans de très bonnes conditions techniques est un véritable régal pour les amateurs de beau chant. Le timbre somptueux et si caractéristique de Dame Janet Baker fait merveille dans ce rôle tour à tour virtuose et élégiaque. Et les duos avec la Zenobia de Della Jones sont anthologiques. Le reste de la distribution est au diapason et, à la tête d'un English Chamber Orchestra des grands jours, Roger Norrington imprime à l'ouvre un irrésistible élan dramatique
