Radiation and scattering of waves by Leopold B Felsen ( Book )
28 editions published between 1972 and 2003 in English and Spanish and held by 734 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Key features include unified treatment of radiation, diffraction, and scattering problems in electromagnetics, acoustics, and plasma-like media; comprehensive coverage of physical interpretations for wave processes; indispensable information on alternative representations and asymptotics - not found anywhere else; and invaluable coverage of transients particularly applicable to advances in high-speed electronics and extra-wideband radar. This book will be of interest to students, engineers, and physicists involved in electromagnetics and acoustics. Makes an important reference for graduate classes

Electromagnetics in a complex world : challenges and perspectives by Workshop/Minisymposium on "Electromagnetics in a Complex World: Challenges and Perspectives" ( Book )
5 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 93 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This monograph contains the ceremonials and proceedings of the Workshop/Minisymposium on "Electromagnetics in a Complex World: Challenges and Perspectives", convened at the University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy from February 20-21, 2003, in connection with the bestowal of an honorary Laurea degree on Professor Leopold B. Felsen. The various contributions from scientists and engineers in academy and industry address diverse problems in electromagnetics, either on a broad scale or in particular specialties. The wide-ranging topics and techniques, analytic models (with phenomenologies) and numerical simulations - motivated by actual or potential applications to real-world problems - are intended to stimulate interdisciplinary exchange
Ultra-wideband, short-pulse electromagnetics 2 by Short-Pulse Electromagnetics International Conference on Ultra-Wideband ( Book )
4 editions published in 1995 in English and held by 86 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Fields, networks, computational methods, and systems in modern electrodynamics : a tribute to Leopold B. Felsen by P Russer ( Book )
3 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 79 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This book consists of contributions given at a symposium in honour of Leopold B. Felsen. They represent the state of the art in dealing with electromagnetic fields, their network theory representation, their computation and, finally, with system applications. The network formulation of field problems can improve the problem formulation and also contribute to the solution methodology. Network theory systematic approaches for circuit analysis are based on the separation of the circuit into the connection circuit and the circuit elements. Many applications in science and technology rely on computations of the electromagnetic field in either man-made or natural complex structures. Because different problems have their own combination of geometrical features, materials, scales and frequency ranges, no single method is best suited for handling all possible cases: instead, a combination of methods or hybridization is needed to attain the greatest flexibility and efficiency

In Situ Fault Detection by the Hybrid Ray Mode Method ( Book )
3 editions published between 1988 and 1992 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The objective of this research effort has been to develop algorithms for in situ location and identification, by ultrasound, of flaws in plates or laminated layered elastic materials. Achieving this objective requires detailed knowledge of the excitation, propagation, scattering and detection of high frequency sound waves in the unflawed and flawed environments. Based on an understanding of these fundamental wave phenomena, one may then attempt to construct analytical models with accompanying algorithms, so as to parametrize the NDE problem in terms of good observables. During the contract period, carefully selected prototype problems have been investigated to determine 'good observables' for particular flawed environments. Two major phases have received attention: (a) phenomena within a flat layered plate, especially beam-to-mode conversion, and the consequent interaction with a weak debonding flaw; (b) characterization of transducer outputs in terms of good wave objects that facilitate coupling into and out of the plate environment. The analytical tools rely on spatial and spectral domain formulations, and they comprise self-consistent hybrid beam-mode methods; complex source modeling of Gaussian beams, with complex ray tracing to track such beams; and decomposition of general wavefields into Gaussian beams. Thus, Gaussian beams, which are 'good observables' are central to the problem strategy. (JHD)
