Adaptive inverse control by Bernard Widrow( Book )

30 editions published between 1995 and 2008 in English and Undetermined and held by 262 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A self-contained introduction to adaptive inverse control Now featuring a revised preface that emphasizes the coverage of both control systems and signal processing, this reissued edition of Adaptive Inverse Control takes a novel approach that is not available in any other book. Written by two pioneers in the field, Adaptive Inverse Control presents methods of adaptive signal processing that are borrowed from the field of digital signal processing to solve problems in dynamic systems control. This unique approach allows engineers in both fields to share tools and techniques. Clearly and intuitively written, Adaptive Inverse Control illuminates theory with an emphasis on practical applications and commonsense understanding. It covers: the adaptive inverse control concept; Weiner filters; adaptive LMS filters; adaptive modeling; inverse plant modeling; adaptive inverse control; other configurations for adaptive inverse control; plant disturbance canceling; system integration; Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) adaptive inverse control systems; nonlinear adaptive inverse control systems; and more. Complete with a glossary, an index, and chapter summaries that consolidate the information presented, Adaptive Inverse Control is appropriate as a textbook for advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level courses on adaptive control and also serves as a valuable resource for practitioners in the fields of control systems and signal processing
Quantization noise : roundoff error in digital computation, signal processing, control, and communications by Bernard Widrow( Book )

12 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 197 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"If you are working in digital signal processing, control, or numerical analysis, you will find this authoritative treatment of quantization noise (roundoff error) to be an invaluable resource." "Do you know where the theory of quantization comes from, and under what circumstances it is true? Expert authors, including the founder of the field and formulator of the theory of quantization noise, Bernard Widrow, answer these and other important practical questions. They describe and analyze uniform quantization, floating-point quantization, and their applications in detail."--Jacket

Adaptive signal processing for seismic monitoring of hydraulic fratures : annual report (July 1983-June 1984) by Bernard Widrow( Book )

7 editions published between 1983 and 1988 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Data collected during the GRI Mounds I field test of November 1983 and during the GRI Mounds III field test of October 1984 have been computer processed, confirming that pressure pulsations caused by the pumping process travel down the borehole and out into the fracture, causing the fracture to be a seismic radiator. The following results have been obtained: (1) Pressure data shows pressure pulsations in both the wellhead and annulus piping, confirming the existence of pressure pulsations at the bottom of the well, at the mouth of the fracture. (2) Time series data analysis has led to characterization of signal time delays between pump truck, wellhead, annulus, surface and borehole geophone arrays. (3) Filtering techniques which improve the data SNR have been developed. (4) Propagation velocities for signals traveling through the hydraulic system and through the earth have been calculated. (5) Periodic seismic signals with the stroke rates of the fracturing pumps were detected by the geophones and the wellhead sensors. There is evidence that the geophones received seismic signals radiating from the fracture. With further development, these seismic signals and pressure oscillations at the well head may be used to image the fracture, to proide useful information about fracture growth, length, and azimuth

Research on large adaptive arrays( Book )

3 editions published in 1979 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Most adaptive filters are designed to achieve minimization of estimation error. Other design goals could include satisfaction of constraints as well as minimization of mean square error. The paper proposes a particular set of performance criteria, involving 'soft constraints'. A 'soft-constraint LMS algorithm' is derived from a performance function which is the sum of mean square error and weighted squared constraint violation errors. The soft constraint algorithm is applied to adaptive antenna arrays as an example, which includes a demonstration of the effects of varying the softness of the constraints. Also, convergence properties of the algorithm are presented. A relation between the output power of a signal from a converged soft constraint LMS adaptive filter and the signal's input power is derived, which demonstrates some unexpected behavior. (Author)
