Dynamical gauge symmetry breaking : a collection of reprints by FARHI E(
Book
)
11 editions published in 1982 in English and held by 217 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This book is a collection of original papers on dynamical gauge symmetry breaking, and is intended for graduate students and researchers in theoretical physics (elementary particle physics and others) who have an understanding of basic quantum field theory. The book can serve as a research text for those requiring an introduction to dynamical gauge symmetry breaking and as a reference text for active researchers. The important papers in the field that are included deal with attempts to apply the ideas to realistic models of elementary particle interactions. A historical critique by the editors

Lectures on fluid dynamics : a particle theorist's view of supersymmetric, nonAbelian noncommutative fluid mechanics, and
dbranes by
Roman W Jackiw(
Book
)
7 editions published between 2002 and 2011 in English and held by 196 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This book contains lectures on fluid dynamics given in Montreal, while the author held the Aisenstadt Chair, as well as other lectures on the same topics. It begins by explaining the motivation and reviewing the classical theory, but in a manner different from textbook discussions. Among the topics discussed are the conservation laws and Euler equations, and a method for finding their canonical structure; C. Eckart's Lagrangian and a relativistic generalization for vortexfree motion; nonvanishing vorticity and the Clebsch parameterization for the velocity vector. Jackiw then discusses some specific models for nonrelativistic and relativistic fluid mechanics in spatial dimensions greater than one, including the Chaplygin gas (whose negative pressure is inversely proportional to density), and the scalar BornInfeld model. He shows how both the Chaplygin gas and the BornInfeld model devolve from the parameterizationinvariant NambuGoto action, when specific parameterization is made. As in particle physics, Jackiw shows, fluid mechanics enhanced by supersymmetry. For onedimensional cases, the models discussed above are completely integrable, and Jackiw gives the General solution of the Chaplygin gas and the BornInfeld model on a line. General solution of the Nambu Goto theory for a 1brane (string) in two spatial dimensions. Jackiw discusses the need for a nonAbelian fluid mechanics and proposes a Lagrangian, which involves a nonAbelian auxiliary field whose ChernSimons density should be a total derivative. The generalization to magnetohydrodynamics, which results from including a dynamical nonAbelian gauge field, reduces in the Abelian limit to conventional magnetohydrodynamics
