A coastal pond; studied by oceanographic methods by K. O Emery( Book )

20 editions published between 1969 and 1997 in English and Undetermined and held by 808 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Western North Atlantic Ocean: topography, rocks, structure, water, life, and sediments by K. O Emery( Book )

13 editions published in 1972 in English and Undetermined and held by 519 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This publication is concerned with the Atlantic continental margin of the United States, and it necessarily includes some information about the adjacent land and ocean areas. It is a summary of the existing knowledge of the ocean floor, the water above it, and the life that is in the water or at the bottom. The chapters contained within the publication fall into seven categories: Physiography, Rocks, Structure, Water, Life, Sediments, and Origin of Continental Margin
The sea off southern California; a modern habitat of petroleum by K. O Emery( Book )

15 editions published between 1950 and 2011 in English and Undetermined and held by 489 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The destruction of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jericho : geological, climatological, and archaeological background by David Neev( Book )

12 editions published in 1995 in English and Undetermined and held by 471 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The story of the destruction of Sodom, Gomorrah and Jericho in the Dead Sea region is the oldest such description in human history. Now, more than 4000 years later, employing modern geological science in a forensic manner, this book sheds new light on these occurrences
Sea levels, land levels, and tide gauges by K. O Emery( Book )

Morphology of the rocky members of the solar system by Elazar Uchupi( Book )

11 editions published between 1993 and 2014 in English and held by 177 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Using new satellite imageries, chemical and geophysical data obtained by NASA and other space agencies, the authors pre- sent an updated concept of the origin of the Solar System. This excellently written protrayal focuses on the morphology of planets and moons and the reasons for their differences, looking at the Solar System as one entity rather than a group of individual planets. The main field of comparison is their morphology supple- mented by data in chemistry and geophysics from space probes and from the Earth, including a chapter on Venus based on data recorded by the Magellan mission. Many compiled maps and photographs with details from satellite imagery complete an exciting book not only for scientists in planetology and astronomy but also geomorphologists, hydrologists and the interested public
Seismic reflection profiles along the drill holes on the continental margin off Florida by K. O Emery( Book )

9 editions published between 1964 and 1968 in English and held by 172 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Continuous seismic reflection profiles along the line of JOIDES drill holes were adjusted for the velocity of sound at depth, as measured in one of the drill holes and determined at nearby seismic refraction stations. The adjusted reflecting horizons agree in many respects with the stratigraphic section which includes strata of Miocene, Oligocene, Eocene, and Paleocene age, as indicated by samples from the drill holes. The reflection profiles provide continuity of data between the drill holes and extend to much greater depths than the drill; thus they supplement and amplify information derived from the drill samples. Both kinds of data show that the continental shelf is underlain by a Tertiary sequence that has prograded seaward so that the foreset beds form the past and present Florida-Hatteras Slope. No evidence of faulting at the Florida-Hatteras Slope is exhibited by the reflecting horizons. A shallow ridge (or anticline), probably of Cretaceous strata, may underlie the middle part of the continental shelf. The seismic profile between two drill holes on the Blake Plateau contains reflecting horizons that correspond fairly well to the tops of Oligocene and Paleocene strata that were sampled by the drill. These strata continue beyond the plateau, and they partly mantle the Blake Escarpment. Deeper reflecting horizons lie within the Cretaceous sequence, and some may even be older than Cretaceous; they are truncated by the Tertiary beds that mantle the Blake Escarpment. (Author)

The geology of the Atlantic Ocean by K. O Emery( Book )

2 editions published in 1984 in English and held by 18 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book is a unique account of the geologic development of a young oceanicbasin and its adjacent marginal seas. Combining widely dispersed data and concepts with new investigations made especially for this book, it presents the reader with a detailed, thoroughly integrated study of the topography, igneous composition, structure, and sediments of the Atlantic. Effects of plate movements and changing climates upon water movements and contents of organisms and sediments are included. In addition, the potential economic value of ocean resources is carefully evaluated. A detailed bibliography complements the text
