[Hakluyt-Wright-Molyneux map of Great Lakes, 1600] by Edward Wright( )

1 edition published in 1925 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Projected by Edward Wright using his improvements on Mercator's projection and based on a globe engraved by Emery Molyneux in 1592, this map was regarded as a 16th-century cartographic landmark. It was one of the first maps to use Mercator's projection, as well as being unusual for leaving areas blank where geographic information was lacking (unlike many contemporary maps which were supplemented with speculation). It shows a "Lake of Tadouac" in the Great Lakes region, possibly one of the first maps to show Lake Ontario
