Maren Nielsdatter was born in Norway in 1819. She married twice to Jorgen Arneson and to Hans Olsen. She was the mother of six children. Hans and Maren brought their family to America in 1867 and settled in Iowa. Information on their descendants who now live in Iowa, South Dakota, California, Nevada, and elsewhere are given in this volume. Material on their Norwegian ancestors is also included. The family surname was patronymic when they arrived in America so children's surnames are different than parents
