Cornelisse Van Neiuwkirk, resident of Slichtenhorst in Gelderland, Holland, was the father of two sons, who sailed to New Netherland in 1659. Gerret Cornelisse Van Nieuwkirk married Chieltje (Cornelia) Cornelissen Slecht, in Holland. They had six children. They first settled in Long Island, moved to Bergan, New Jersey, in 1666, and to Ulster County, New York, in 1669. He died ca. 1686. Descendants lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and elsewhere
