Visual
)
1 edition published in 1999 in English and held by 24 libraries worldwide Hedy Lamarr insisted on the little-known and even less respected German expatriate Edgar Ulmer to direct "The strange woman," which would become his biggest budgeted picture and would feature her best performance. Lamarr plays a shrewish woman in early 19th-century Maine who schemes for the favors of three rich men. Ulmer survived low-budget productions for most of his career to become a cult figure in the world of cinema auteurism. "Moon over Harlem, " with an $8,000 budget and an all-black cast, is an excellent example of what created his fame. This film is a melodrama concerning a wealthy widow who remarries and subsequently accuses her daughter of trying to seduce her new husband.
