Expressing concern that he has not heard from him since Christmas day; enclosing a "copy of a report of a Committee of our House for amending the Militia law, but I must acknowledge that I do not believe it will pass, (if it passes at all) without very considerable alterations. Our partnership concerns, altho they are on a footing less embarrassing than when I wrote you first, are nevertheless still such as to occupy all my resources & almost my whole time. To wind them up will yet require much labor & exertion. I hope, however, that they will terminate better than my fears had predicted, but it is impossible to Speak as yet with certainty.
