Two letters from Dr. George Bushe, professor at Rutgers College, to Dr. John W. Francis. Letter dated February 12, 1828. Bushe states he is going to Europe for a short time. He understands Dr. Valentine Mott " has taken offence at the freedom of my criticisms on a point of surgery." Bushe points out that he has written with becoming respect of Dr. Mott in both public and private before and after this dispute. He wishes Dr. Francis to read this letter before the president of the College [Rutgers] and the professors. Letter dated Feburary 7, 1829, to Dr. John W. Francis. Bushe believes that a code of regulations ought to be put in place to help the professors: "I cannot but think that such a code will prevent the occurence of difficulties from which all have suffered."
