Plot complications come thick and fast, among them the revelation that Bertarido is alive, with the characters' emotions exquisitely expressed in Handel's alternately lyrical and virtuosic arias. Itzhak Perlman, violin by Itzhak Perlman ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"The great Israeli-born violinist Itzhak Perlman has already left a huge number of sound recordings of his interpretations, but it adds an extra dimension to be able to watch him execute, for instance, the brilliant spiccato bowing in Saint-Saens's Introduction et rondo capriccioso. A master of the French style through his teacher Ivan Galamian, Perlman at 25 is seen in the first full flush of his talent. Ten years later the mature soloist shows his total command of the modern Russian style of Prokofiev, at a BBC Symphony Orchestra golden jubilee concert, and the bitter-sweet romanticism of Elgar's massive, virtuosic concerto."--Container

When Wotan (the great Friedrich Schorr) tries to stop him, Siegfried uses his sword to break the god's spear and makes his way to the sleeping Brünnhilde (a radiant Kirsten Flagstad). He awakens her with a kiss--and sets in motion the events that, in the following opera, will bring about the end of the world. Kerstin Thorborg co-stars as Erda and Artur Bodanzky conducts
