"Die Namen Elfa Run Kristinsdottir und "Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop" dürften (zumindest außerhalb Berlins) nur wenigen Klassikfans ein Begriff sein. Aber man sollte sie sich merken. Das CD-Debut mit drei Violinkonzerten von Johann Sebastian Bach ist jedenfalls außergewöhnlich gut gelungen. 2006 wurde das Ensemble gegründet, das zwar auf hochintelligente Weise die Ideen der historischen Aufführungspraxis umsetzen kann (und schon mit dieser CD ein Stück weit fortschreibt), das aber auch sehr viel zeitgenössische Musik spielt. Die Solistin Elfa Run Kristinsdottir ist seine Konzertmeisterin. In Island 1985 geboren, hat sie bei Rainer Kussmaul und Carolin Widmann studiert und bereits durch den Ersten Preis beim Leipziger Bachwettbewerb auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Die Verve, mit der diese jungen Musiker Bachs Musik durchdringen, ist absolut erfrischend. Alle Beteiligten spielen mit einer Phrasierungsintelligenz, die auch unter Alte-Musik-Ensembles selten ist. Ich kenne kaum eine Aufnahme, in der die inneren Dialoge im Wechselspiel der Stimmen und der polyphone Reichtum etwa des ersten Satzes von Bachs Doppelkonzert so lebendig, spontan und einleuchtend herausgearbeitet werden" (BR-Klassik, 24. 2. 2011)
