3 editions published in 2004 in 3 languages and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mixes live action and animation. Billy and his sweetheart, Eleanor, go to the beach, sit down at an outdoor table with several friends, and open a book of cartoons, which become animated as the young people read. The four amusing animated sequences--The Hicks in Nightmareland, Bunkum's boarding house, The Kelly Kid's bathing adventure, and A sand microbe flirtation--form a framing device for a little flirtation and jealousy scene that plays out between Billy, Eleanor, the flirtatiousTrixie, and her husband, Brody. At the end Eleanor warns Billy that, if he doesn't give up flirting, he might end up like the squashed microbe in the final cartoon. "Never again", says Billy
