C. S. Lewis: images of his world by Douglas R Gilbert( Book )

18 editions published between 1973 and 2010 in 4 languages and held by 1,432 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This reissue of a treasured classic offers a window into the people and places that shaped the life of beloved author, scholar, and apologist C.S. Lewis. In photographs and text (much of it in Lewis's own words), Douglas Gilbert and Clyde S. Kilby introduce us to such memorable friends as J.R.R. Tolkien and transport us to such magical places as the deer park outside Lewis's rooms at Magdalen College, Oxford. We also meet Lewis as a talented and brilliant child in Belfast, captivated by the myths and legends of the North, already writing and illustrating imaginative stories and poems at a young age." "While the book includes an essay tracing Lewis's struggle to find faith and a chronology of his life, it is not a biography per se but rather a personal introduction, a composite portrait of a fascinating individual and the world in which he lived. Attractively laid out in a fresh new format, this volume will be prized both by longtime fans of Lewis and by those encountering him for the first time."--Jacket

Cassa Cassa : Dance meeting of Africa and the diaspora( Visual )

1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

From Elodie Lefebvre's website: "Germaine Acogny, a leading figure in contemporary African dance and the founder of the École des Sables in Senegal, has longed for many years to bring together choreographers from Africa and the diaspora. In 2007, the École des Sables invited for the first time thirty-five choreographers and musicians of African origin for the project 'Recontres dansées de l'Afrique et de sa diaspora' (Danced Encounters of Africa and its Diaspora). This remote place became for two weeks the site for exceptional exchange. Each artist who has accepted the invitation brings his or her own personal universe. They unfold it under the others' gaze, in a quest for the nature of the links that unite them with Africa; they put it into a dialogue with their partners' universes, searching for the mutations of form and meaning which their dancing has undergone. It is with a desire for communion and sharing that these unique trajectories meet at the École des Sables; it is between the bush and the ocean that they reunite with their collective history."
