Fractals everywhere by
M. F Barnsley(
Book
)
75 editions published between 1988 and 2014 in 3 languages and held by 2,472 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book is based on a course called 'Fractal Geometry' which has been taught in the School of Mathematics at Georgia Institute of Technology for two years. 'Fractals Everywhere' teaches the tools, methods, and theory of deterministic geometry. Ti is useful for describing specific objects and structures. Models are represented by succint 'formulas.' Once the formula is known, the model can be reproduced. we do not consider statistical geometry. The latter aims at discovering general statistical laws which govern families of similarlooking structures, such as all cumulus clouds, all maple leaves, or all mountains. In deterministic geometry, structures are defined, communicated, and analysed, with the aid of elementary transformations such as affine transformations, scalings, rotations, and congruences. A fractal set generally contains infinitely many points whose organization is so complicated that it is not possible to describe the set by specifying directly where each point in it lies. Instead, the set may be define by 'the relations between the pieces.' It is rather like describing the solar system by quoting the law of gravitation and stating the initial conditions. Everything follows from that. It appears always to be better to describe in terms of relationships."

Superfractals by
M. F Barnsley(
Book
)
20 editions published between 2006 and 2008 in English and Spanish and held by 611 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Superfractals is the longawaited successor to Fractals Everywhere, in which the power and beauty of iterated function systems (IFS) were introduced and applied to producing startling and original images that reflect complex structures found, for example, in nature. This provoked the question of whether there is deeper connection among topology, geometry, IFS and codes, on one hand, and biology, DNA and protein development on the other. Now, 20 years later, Barnsley brings the story up to date by explaining how IFS have developed in order to address this issue."Jacket

Fractals in multimedia by
M. F Barnsley(
Book
)
12 editions published between 2002 and 2011 in English and held by 169 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book should be useful to commercial and university researchers in the rapidly evolving field of digital imaging, specifically, chief information officers, professors, software engineers, and graduate students in the mathematical sciences. While much of the content is quite technical, it contains pointers to the state of the art and the future in fractal imaging."Jacket

Christoph Bandt(
Book
)
5 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Fractals and wavelets are emerging areas of mathematics with many common factors which can be used to develop new technologies. This volume contains the selected contributions from the lectures and plenary and invited talks given at the International Workshop and Conference on Fractals and Wavelets held at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, India from November 912, 2013. Written by experts, the contributions hope to inspire and motivate researchers working in this area. They provide more insight into the areas of fractals, self similarity, iterated function systems, wavelets and the applications of both fractals and wavelets. This volume will be useful for the beginners as well as experts in the fields of fractals and wavelets
