Served as Circuit Court judge of Davidson County, Tennessee, 1857-1861. Ca. 1,000 letters are the correspondence of the Pickett sisters (Lida, Alice, and Lucy), nieces of Mrs. John S. Brien. Mrs. Brien's diary includes a memoir of her early life and diary entries for 1877-1882. A diary (1876-1877) of Mrs. George P. Buell is also included.
