Besides reflecting friendship with Alma Mahler and her family, Tandler's letters touch on the following topics: his political interests and his involvement in the violent clash between the police and the Social Democrats at the Justice Ministry in July 1927; the discussions and negotiations of the committee charged with the planning for a monument to Gustav Mahler in Vienna (Tandler was a member of the committee); his participation in the hygiene committee of the League of Nations (meeting in Geneva, 1932); his subsequent world travels (especially China and Japan, with stays also in Hawaii, New York, Java, Cairo); and the illness and death of Manon Gropius (a condolence letter is included).
