Besides reflecting friendship with Alma Mahler and her family, Tandler's letters touch on the following topics: his political interests and his involvement in the violent clash between the police and the Social Democrats at the Justice Ministry in July 1927; the discussions and negotiations of the committee charged with the planning for a monument to Gustav Mahler in Vienna (Tandler was a member of the committee); his participation in the hygiene committee of the League of Nations (meeting in Geneva, 1932); his subsequent world travels (especially China and Japan, with stays also in Hawaii, New York, Java, Cairo); and the illness and death of Manon Gropius (a condolence letter is included). The original items of correspondence in the period from 1921 to 1928 (13 items) are accompanied by typescripts, which bear a number of explanatory annotations in Alma Mahler's hand
