Gamblers are everywhere, but Nathan Detroit--who maintains the "Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York"--Is short the $1000 he needs to secure a site for a fleet of big players coming into town. Nathan's other problem is his burlesque showgirl fiancée, Miss Adelaide. Her fourteen-year long engagement and Nathan's failure to give up the gambling racket as he promised have given her a permanent, psychosomatic cold. When Sky Masterson, with a reputation as a fast and loose bettor, arrives in New York Nathan devises a plan. Nathan bets Sky that Sky won't be able to convince Sergeant Sarah Brown, local Salvation Army Sergeant and goody two shoes extraordinaire, to go to Havana for dinner. Sky only has 24 hours to succeed or sacrifice the cash. What he doesn't count on is losing his heart as well. Hair: Fresh from the farm, Claude Bukowski arrives in New York City for a date with the Army Induction Board, only to walk into a hippie "happening" in Central Park and fall in love with the beautiful Sheila. Befriended by the hippies' pacifist leader, Berger, and urged to crash a formal party in order to declare his love for Sheila, Claude begins an adventure that lands him in jail, Central Park Lake and finally, in the army. But Berger's final effort to save Claude from Vietnam sets in motion a bizarre twist of fate ... with shocking consequences. De-Lovely: A musical portrait of American composer Cole Porter. The film imagines Porter looking back on his life as a stage show, with past memories taking shape as numbers in an elaborate and elegant musical accompanied by his songs. His personal history is illustrated by these performances, especially the complicated relationship with his wife, wealthy socialite Linda Lee Porter, who is shown as being the main inspiration for his work despite his extramarital affairs. A chorus line: In preparation for a Broadway musical, a group of aspiring stage performers is put through their paces by a veteran stage director using some singular techniques

I got the show right here : the amazing, true story of how an obscure Brooklyn horn player became the last great Broadway showman by Cy Feuer( Book )

Guys & Dolls ... The Boyfriend ... How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying ... Can-Can ... These are just a few of the many Broadway shows produced by the legendary Cy Feuer, who, in partnership with the late Ernest H. Martin, brought to life many of America's most enduring musicals. Cy Feuer was at the center of these creations, as well as the films based on two of Broadway's most exceptional musicals, Cabaret and A Chorus Line. He was the man in charge, the one responsible for putting everything together, and -- almost more important -- for holding it together. Now, at age ninety-two, as Cy Feuer looks back on the remarkable career he had on Broadway and in Hollywood, the stories he has to tell of the people he worked with are fabulously rich and entertaining.-There's Bob Fosse, a perfectionist with whom Feuer did battle over the filming of the movie Cabaret.-There's Frank Loesser, the brilliant and explosive composer of Guys & Dolls, Where's Charley', and How to Succeed ...-There's Liza Minnelli, star of both the movie Cabaret and the Broadway musical The Act, whose offstage activities threatened to disrupt the show.-There's the contentious George S. Kaufman, the librettist and director whose ego was almost as great as his talent. Add to the list such glamorous figures as Cole Porter, Julie Andrews, Abe Burrows, Gwen Verdon, John Steinbeck, Martin Scorsese, and George Balanchine, and you have a sense of the unbeatable cast of characters who populate this fabulous story of a young trumpet player from Brooklyn who became musical director for the Republic Pictures film studio, then feverishly tackled Broadway, back when "putting on a show" did not require the support of major corporations, and when dreams of overnight success really did have a chance of coming true. Funny, witty, and immensely entertaining, I Got the Show Right Here is a treat for anyone who loves show business, a story wonderfully told by one of Broadway's greatest and most talented producers
