Measurement of the Mass and Width and Study of the Spin of the Xi(1690)0 Resonance from Lambdac+ --] Lambda anti-K0 K+ Decay at BaBar( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The {Xi}(1690){sup 0} resonance is observed in the {Lambda}{bar K}{sup 0} channel in the decay {Lambda}{sub c}{sup +} {yields} {Lambda}{bar K}{sup 0}K{sup +}, from a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of {approx} 200 fb{sup -1} recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider operating at {approx} 10.58 GeV and {approx} 10.54 GeV center-of-mass energies. A fit to the Dalitz plot intensity distribution corresponding to the coherent superposition of amplitudes describing {Lambda}a{sub 0}(980){sup +} and {Xi}(1690){sup 0} K{sup +} production yields mass and width values of 1684.7 {+-} 1.3(stat.){sub -1.6}{sup +2.2}(syst.) MeV/c{sup 2}, and 8.1{sub -3.5}{sup +3.9}(stat.){sub -0.9}{sup +1.0}(syst.) MeV, respectively, for the {Xi}(1690){sup 0}, while the spin is found to be consistent with value of 1/2 on the basis of studies of the ({Lambda}K{sub S}) angular distribution
MRI of the body by Daniel Vanel( )

1 edition published in 1989 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As with the introduction of x -ray computed tomography, much of the initial development of magnetic resonance applications tended to focus on the central nervous system. The development of magnetic resonance imaging applications to other organ systems such as the chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities has lagged somewhat behind, awaiting technical improvements, and a broader user base. The past two years have seen a marked increase in imaging applications throughout the body, most notably the musculoskeletal system. It is in this regard, that MRI of the Body is a welcome arrival as a text which describes both basic principles of magnetic resonance ima ging and surveys the current status of magnetic resonance imaging applications throughout the body. The volume is concise, focused, clinically oriented, and abun dantly illustrated. In each organ system, the appropriate technical approach is discussed, the normal anatomic features are reviewed, and the range of pathologic appearances which may be encountered are described. The authors of the chapters provide a balanced overview of MR applications and describe both present limitations and future potential of magnetic resonance imaging applications in the organ system described
Branching Fraction Limits for B0 Decays to eta' eta, eta' pi0 and eta pi0( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

We describe searches for decays to two-body charmless final states {eta}'{eta}, {eta}'{pi}{sup 0} and {eta}{pi}{sup 0} of B{sup 0} mesons produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 232 million produced B{bar B} pairs. The results for branching fractions are, in units of 10{sup -6} (upper limits at 90% C.L.): {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}'{eta}) = 0.2{sub -0.5}{sup +0.7} {+-} 0.4 (<1.7), {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}{pi}{sup 0}) = 0.6{sub -0.4}{sup +0.5} {+-} 0.1 (<1.3), and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}'{pi}{sup 0}) = 0.8{sub -0.6}{sup +0.8} {+-} 0.1 (<2.1). The first error quoted is statistical and the second systematic
A Study of Production and Decay of Omega_c^0 Baryons in BABAR( )

2 editions published in 2005 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors present a Dalitz-plot analysis of charmless B{sup {+-}} decays to the final state {pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {-+}} using 210 fb{sup -1} of data recorded by the BABAR experiment at {radical}s = 10.58 GeV. We measure the branching fractions {Beta}(B{sup {+-}} {yields} {pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {-+}}) = (16.2 {+-} 1.2 {+-} 0.9) x 10{sup -6} and {Beta}(B{sup {+-}} {yields} {rho}{sup 0}(770){pi}{sup {+-}}) = (8.8 {+-} 1.0 {+-} 0.6{sub -0.7}{sup +0.1}) x 10{sup -6}. Measurements of branching fractions for the quasi-two-body decays B{sup {+-}} {yields} {rho}{sup 0}(1450){pi}{sup {+-}}, B{sup {+-}} {yields} f{sub 0}(980){pi}{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}} f{sub 2}(1270){pi}{sup {+-}} are also presented. They observe no charge asymmetries for the above modes, and there is no evidence for the decays B{sup {+-}} {yields} {chi}{sub c0}{pi}{sup {+-}}, B{sup {+-}} {yields} f{sub 0}(1370){pi}{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}} {yields} {sigma}{pi}{sup {+-}}
Observation of B^+ to Phi Phi K^+ and Evidence for B^0 to Phi Phi K^0 below Eta_C Threshold( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors report measurements of the decays B{sup +} {yields} {phi}{phi}K{sup +} and B{sup 0} {yields} {phi}{phi}K{sup 0} using a sample of 231 million B{bar B} pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The branching fractions are measured to be {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {phi}{phi}K{sup +}) = (7.5 {+-} 1.0(stat) {+-} 0.7(syst)) x 10{sup -6} and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {phi}{phi}K{sup 0}) = (4.1{sub -1.4}{sup +1.7}(stat) {+-} 0.4(syst)) x 10{sup -6} for a {phi}{phi} invariant mass below 2.85 GeV/c{sup 2}
Search for B Meson Decays to eta' eta' K( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors describe searches for decays of B mesons to the charmless final states {eta}'{eta}'K. The data consist of 228 million B{bar B} pairs produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching fractions are {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}'{eta}'K{sup 0}) <31 x 10{sup -6} and {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {eta}'{eta}'K{sup +}) <25 x 10{sup -6}
Search for the Rare Decays $B^0\to D_s^{(*)+} a_{0(2)}^-$( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors have searched for the decays B{sup 0} {yields} D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 0}{sup -}, B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 0}{sup -}, B{sup 0} {yields} D{sub s}{sup +}a{sub 2}{sup -} and B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 2}{sup -} in a sample of about 230 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. They find no evidence for these decays and set upper limits at 90% C.L. on the branching fractions: {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 0}{sup -}) <1.9 x 10{sup -5}, {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 0}{sup -}) <3.6 x 10{sup -5}, {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 2}{sup -}) <1.9 x 10{sup -4}, and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sub s}{sup +} a{sub 2}{sup -}) <2.0 x 10{sup -4}
Search for the decay B^0 --] K^0_S K^0_S K^0_L( )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors present the first search for the decay B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub L}{sup 0} using a data sample of 232 million B{bar B} pairs. They find no statistically significant evidence for the non-resonant component of this decay. Our central value for the branching fraction, assuming the tru Dalitz distribution is uniform and excluding the {phi} resonance, is {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub L}{sup 0}) = (2.4{sub -2.5}{sup +2.7} {+-} 0.6) x 10{sup -6} where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. They set a single-side Bayesian upper limit of {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub L}{sup 0}) <6.4 x 10{sup -6} at 90% confidence level using a uniform prior probability for physical values. Assuming the worst-case true Dalitz distribution, where the signal is entirely in the region of lowest efficiency, the 90% confidence level upper limit is {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub S}{sup 0} K{sub L}{sup 0}) <14 x 10{sup -6}
Measurement of the CP-violating Asymmetries in B0-]K0Spi0 and of the Branching Fraction of B0-]K0pi0( )

2 editions published between 2003 and 2006 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

We have observed the rare decay B{sup 0} {yields} {rho}{sup +}{rho}{sup -} in a sample of 89 million B{bar B} pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. We measure the branching fraction {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {rho}{sup +}{rho}{sup -}) = (27{sub -6-7}{sup +7+5}) x 10{sup -6} and determine the longitudinal polarization fraction {Lambda}{sub L}/{Lambda} = 0.99{sub -0.07}{sup +0.01} {+-} 0.03. The results are preliminary

The authors present a preliminary measurement of the branching fraction and CP-violating parameters S and C for the decay B{sup 0} {yields} {omega}K{sub S}{sup 0}. The data sample corresponds to 232 x 10{sup 6} B{bar B} pairs produced from e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance. They measure {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {omega}K{sup 0}) = (5.9 {+-} 1.0 {+-} 0.4) x 10{sup -6}, S = 0.50{sub -0.38}{sup +0.34} {+-} 0.02 and C = -0.56{sub -0.27}{sup +0.29} {+-} 0.03
