17 editions published between 1988 and 1989 in English and Italian and held by 306 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Annotation This volume contains the proceedings of the First International Workshop on Algebraic and Logic Programming held in Gaussig (German Democratic Republic) from November 14 to 18, 1988. The workshop was devoted to Algebraic Programming, in the sense of programming by algebraic specifications and rewrite rule systems, and Logic Programming, in the sense of Horn clause specifications and resolution systems. This includes combined algebraic/logic programming systems, mutual relations and mutual implementation of programming paradigms, completeness and efficiency considerations in both fields, as well as related topics
Algebraic system specification and development : a survey and annotated bibliography by M Bidoit( )

5 editions published in 1991 in English and Italian and held by 31 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Methods for the algebraic specification of abstract data types were proposed in the early 1970s in the USA and Canada and became a major research issue in Europe shortly afterwards. Since then the algebraic approach has come to play a central role in research on formal specification and development, as its range of applications was extended to the specification of complete software systems, to the formal description of the program development process, and to the uniform definition of syntax and semantics of programming languages. Today this approach extends beyond just software to the development of integrated hardware and software systems. These flourishing activities in the area of algebraic specifications have led to an abundance of approaches, theories and concepts, which have universal algebra, category theory and logic as a common mathematical basis. This volume is an annotated bibliography which provides an up-to-date overview of past and present work on algebraic specification. No attempt is made to provide a coherent introduction to the topic for beginners; the intention is rather to provide a guide to the current literature for researchers in algebraic specification and neighboring fields. Some indications of how the different approaches are related are included, together with some ideas concerning possible future directions

Well rewrite orderings and well quasi-orderings by Pierre Lescanne( Book )

5 editions published between 1991 and 1993 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "This paper studies well (quasi) orderings described as rewrite orderings and proposes a new family of well (quasi) orderings that extends the embedding or divisibility order of G. Higman. For instance, the well (quasi) orderings proposed in this paper may contain pairs of the form f(f(x))> f(g(f(x))). Conditions under which the transitive closure of a well-founded rewrite relation is a well-quasi-rodering [sic] are given. Finally, an attempt to extend the recursive path ordering is proposed."

Étude de quelques théories des langages et généralisation du théorème de Kleene by Pierre Lescanne( Book )

2 editions published between 1971 and 1977 in French and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Terminaison par complétion = Termination by completion by Françoise Bellegarde( Book )

1 edition published in 1990 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "This paper presents a completion procedure for proving termination of term rewrite systems. It works as follows. Given a term rewrite system R supposed to terminate and a term rewrite system T used to transform R, the completion builds an auxiliary term rewrite system S, the system transformed of R by T. The termination of S and T associated with a property called local cooperation implies the termination of R. If the process terminates this provides a mechanical proof of the termination of R."

LES SUITES DE STURM-HABICHT PERMETTENT DE DETERMINER LE NOMBRE DE RACINES REELLES D'UN POLYNOME P ET LES SIGNES D'UNE LISTE DE POLYNOMES Q#1,...,Q#K EN CHACUNE DE CES RACINES, LES POLYNOMES P,Q#1,...,Q#K ETANT DES POLYNOMES A COEFFICIENTS REELS ALGEBRIQUES. NOUS UTILISONS CES PROPRIETES POUR DECIDER SI UN POLYNOME A N VARIABLES ET A COEFFICIENTS ENTIERS ADMET DES RACINES DANS R#+#N ET SI UNE INEQUATION POLYNOMIALE A PLUSIEURS VARIABLES EST VERIFIEE POUR TOUTE VALEUR POSITIVE OU NULLE DE CES VARIABLES. NOUS APPLIQUONS ENSUITE CETTE METHODE POUR AUTOMATISER LA PREUVE DE TERMINAISON DE SYSTEMES DE REECRITURE FONDEE SUR LES INTERPRETATIONS POLYNOMIALES
