Thomas Brasch was a writer and translator, and also a filmmaker. He left the GDR in 1976 with his sons. His sons later died, resulting him to emerge as a writer for the 1981 films Iron Angel, Domino, Mercedes (Brasch's 1985 eponymous piece adapted for the Dutch television) and The Passenger : Welcome to Germany, with Tony Curtis in the lead role. The 'Iron Angel' and 'The Passenger' were the only German competition entries invited to the film festival in Cannes
Hamburger Lektionen ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2009 in German and held by 14 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"In 2000, Mohammed Fazazi was the Imam (or faith leader) at the Al Quds mosque in Hamburg, Germany, and near the end of the holy observance of Ramadan, Fazazi led several teaching sessions for his congregation in which attendees would be allowed to ask questions about the Qur'an and Islamic principles that they would normally be required to present in writing. Two of the sessions were videotaped, and in them Fazazi speaks (among other things) about his attitudes about Europe and America, and Islamic positions towards nations that embrace other faiths and support policies that run counter to Muslim law. Fazazi's statements proved to be wildly controversial after the fact when it became known that a number of the attendees at his 2000 presentations later participated in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C., including three of the four suicide pilots. Filmmaker Romuald Karmakar transcribed Fazazi's statements from the surviving videotapes, and in the film Hamburger Lektionen (or Hamburg Lectures), actor Manfred Zapatka delivers Fazazi's speeches in full"--Www.fandango.com

From 1936 to 1956 the author and critic Carl Seelig visited Robert Walser regularly in the sanitorium at Herisau. During long walks through Appenzeller Land they would talk about Walser's life, and about literature and politics. Seelig documented his memories of this time in his book Wanderungen mit Robert Walser, which Percy Adlon used as the basis for his first film. This is a portrait of a poet with a muted voice, directed with great feeling and precision
