Solitons : differential equations, symmetries, and infinite dimensional algebras by T Miwa( Book )

20 editions published between 2000 and 2012 in English and held by 361 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The goal of this book is to investigate the high degree of symmetry that lies hidden in integrable systems. To that end, differential equations arising from classical mechanics, such as the KdV equation and the KP equations, are used here by the authors to introduce the notion of an infinite dimensional transformation group acting on spaces of integrable systems. The work of M. Sato on the algebraic structure of completely integrable systems is discussed, together with developments of these ideas in the work of M. Kashiwara." "This book should be accessible to anyone with a knowledge of differential and integral calculus and elementary complex analysis, and it will be a valuable resource to the novice and expert alike."--Jacket

MathPhys odyssey 2001 : integrable models and beyond : in honor of Barry M. McCoy( Book )

12 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 143 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume is dedicated to Barry M. McCoy on the occasionofhis sixtieth birthday. Barry McCoy has led the research on integrable models in statistical mechanics and quantumfieldtheoryfor morethan 30years. Hisbook, cowrittenwithT. T. Wu, The Two dimensional/sing Model, (HarvardUniversity)containsallthebasic resultsontheIsing model obtained by the early 1970s. However, McCoy'sjointpaper with Wu, Tracy and Barouch, Spin-spin correlation functions for the two-dimensional/sing model: Exact results in the scaling region (Physical Review B13, 316-374, 1976), was a giant step beyond the book. A remarkable connection between the two-point scaling correlation functions and the Painleve transcendents was found. This work made an enormous impact on mathematical physics in the last quarter of the 20th century. It gave the first nontrivial exampleofinteracting field theory in which the Green function can be written explicitly in terms of special functions satisfying nonlinear differential equations. Later in the 1980s, an extensive list of massless field theories was added in the innovation of conformal field theory, in which the Green functions are characterized by linear differential equationsofthe hypergeometric type. However, evenalmost30yearsaftertheirwork, theIsingmodel isessentiallytheunique casewhereall theGreenfunctionsofmassivefield theoryarecharacterizedbynonlinear differential equations

The integral formula for the solutions of the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation associated with U[subscript q](ŝl[subscript n]) for [absolute value of q] = 1 by T Miwa( Book )

4 editions published in 1999 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "We write the integral formula of Tarasov-Varchenko type for the solutions to the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation associated with a tensor product of the vector representations of sl[subscript n]. We consider the case where the deformation parameter q satisfies [absolute value of q] = 1. We use the bosonization of the type II vertex operators in order to find the hypergeometric pairing in this setting."

The monodromy matrices of the XXZ model in the infinite volume limit by T Miwa( Book )

2 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "We consider the XXZ model in the infinite volume limit with spin 1/2 quantum space and higher spin auxiliary space. Using perturbation theory arguments, we relate the half infinite transfer matrices of this class of models to certain U[subscript q](ŝl₂) intertwiners introduced by Nakayashiki. We construct the monodromy matrices, and show that the one with spin 1 auxiliary space gives rise to the L operator."

2 editions published between 1998 and 1999 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "We present a vertex operator algebra which is an extension of the level k vertex operator algebra for the ŝl₂ conformal field theory. We construct monomial basis of its irreducible representations."
Vertex operator algebra arising from the minimal series M(3,p) and monomial basis by Boris L Feigin( Book )

2 editions published between 2000 and 2001 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abstract: "We study a vertex operator algebra (VOA) V related to the M(3,p) Virasoro minimal series. This VOA reduces in the simplest case p = 4 to the level two integrable vacuum module of ŝl₂. On V there is an action of a commutative current a(z), which is an analog of the current e(z) of ŝl₂. Our main concern is the subspace W generated by this action from the highest weight vector of V. Using the Fourier components of a(z), we present a monomial basis of W and a semi-infinite monomial basis of V. We also give a Gordon type formula for their characters."
