Perhaps the most important problem that separates India and Pakistan today is their dispute over the ownership of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. This dispute flared twice into an open war in 1947-48 and 1965. In order to stop this dispute from developing into a world conflagration, initial efforts were made in 1948 by the United Nations to seek a peaceful solution to the basic dispute as to whether Kashmir should belong to India or to Pakistan. The author was a member of the UN Commission on India and Pakistan, and provides a first-hand account of the initial efforts of the United Nations to resolve the Kashmir issue

"Nimitz graybook" war plans and files of the Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Fleet : running estimate and summary, 1941- 1945 by United States ( )
in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
From 7 December 1941, the date of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, to 31 August 1945, two days before the Japanese surrender at Tokyo Bay, Pacific Fleet staff at Pearl Harbor maintained a running estimate and summary of communicatons and other records in a 'gray book,' concerning activities in the Pacfic region during the period of 7 December 1941 through 31 August 1945. Copies of these reports were filed with the papers of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz at the Operational Archives, Naval History and Heritage Command, Washington Navy Yard, Washington D.C. While some of these are blurry and difficult to read and while the grayscale files do not capture the original color coding, the resulting records neverless provide an authoritative view of the conduct of World War II in the Pacific theater
