This cataloging prototype addresses the problem of classifying and documenting wallpapers. The New Hampshire Historical Society's collection of 100 documents with various histories and uses are analyzed. The cataloging project employs the cataloging procedures of the Historical Society's established system, designed by Donna-Belle Garvin in 1975. The system was organized in accordance with the "System for Classifying Man-Made Objects" published by the American Association for State and Local History and is further indexed by the McBee System of marginal punched cards. The prototype demonstrates that specially-designed catalog sheets, so often used by museums that have wallpaper collections, are unnecessary
